Sharon June Chayka

Sharon June Chayka (June 11th, 1942 – April 9th, 2024)

It is with great and heartfelt sorrow that the family of Sharon Chayka announces her passing on the sunny day of Tuesday April 9th after a brief, unexpected illness with her family by her side and holding her hands.

Sharon leaves behind her husband of 60 years Zenon (Chick) Chayka, her children Darin Chayka (Terri), Tara-Lynn Gillies (Michael) and Todd Chayka (Alison). Also left behind are her beloved grandchildren Ryan Gillies, Emma Chayka, Grace Chayka and Faye Chayka.

Briefly, Sharon was born in, and grew up in Sudbury. Through her high-school days, she excelled in studies and cheerleading (shout out to her cheerleading friends, of which they still all met annually). It was during this time she met the love of her life, our Dad, Zenon. From there, the family journey went through Africa, international destinations, Mulligan Street and then to Trout Lake – and ultimately parts beyond. Anybody that came across Sharon during those runs, knew of the fun we all had, and the memories made.

As an out-of-the-norm, truly exceptional woman, our mother was the bedrock for anything we needed. From advice on virtually any matter, recipes, gardening tips, books to read, movies to watch (simply way too much to mention), you name it, on any subject, we all reached out to her.

Our mom was also very well known in the community through her Sharon J Chayka Psychotherapist firm and associated work - she was still working and helping up to Monday night from the hospital!! To all her clients and staff over the years, we know how she contributed to your lives. We hope her love and advice has a lasting impact on you moving forward.

To all who knew her, you know there is not enough space here to write of her talents and impacts.

As per her personal wishes, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers or other, and again as per her request, if you wish, a donation to All-Heart Pet Rescue in her honour, is appreciated.

To all those that have reached out (our parent’s close friends, our close friends, and the grandchildren’s friends) with their thoughts and condolences over this tough time, the family deeply appreciates it.

And finally, for all those she touched, please raise your next glass of wine to her memory and a life fully lived.
