Barbara Desjardins Obituary

Desjardins, Barbara Jean (nee Kirk) - April 18, 2017, at home surrounded by her family, after a short and very determined battle with cancer. Barbara had just celebrated her 66^th birthday on April 9^th.

Born to Allan and Mary Kirk at Eganville, Ontario, Barbara was the beloved wife of Douglas Desjardins for 47 years. She is survived by her daughters Christine (Dan) Villeneuve and Karri (Darcy) Brydge of North Bay. Her grandchildren Cassandra (Christopher) Farrow, Karley Villeneuve and Shannon Brydge will greatly miss their Mamma as will Mason Farrow, her great-grandson who could always bring a twinkle to her eyes. She is also survived by her sister Ann (John) Anderson of Temagami and brother Bob (Liz) Kirk of Sturgeon Falls.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Barbara’s wish to fight cancer from home was strongly supported by Doug and their daughter Christine, who put her own life on hold to be there for her mom and best friend, with tender loving care, 24/7. Barbara spent 24 years of her life making a huge difference and taking the absolute best care working in geriatric nursing.

She was able to spend the last 14 years happily retired and enjoying life. Barbara’s favourite place in the world was the family cottage on Lake Restoule where she could be with her critters and her constant guardians and canine companions Buddy and Maggie and her cat Sassy.

According with Barbara’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no service or memorial. In lieu of flowers donations to All Heart Pet Rescue and the North Bay Food Bank will be gratefully acknowledged by her family.
