Donald Grimster

GRIMSTER, DONALD JAMES (1932 - 2017)

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Donald James Grimster  at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the age of 84 years.

He was the beloved husband for 63 years of Myrnie (nee Greason) and "daddy" to Muffin his beloved fur baby. Loving dad to Donald Jr. (Louise) and Tina (Brodie Chapman) and "Grampa/Papa Don" to his five grandchildren: Cory and Lindsay Grimster, Cody Gauthier (Allison Roberts), Matthew Chapman (Laura Lamore) and Jordan Chapman. He also had two very special Great Grandsons, Ethan Ambeau and Thomas Gauthier.

Don is survived by his sister Joanne Bilger (Larry) and predeceased by his grandson Dustin Gauthier and brother David Grimster.

Don was a retired leading seaman with the Royal Canadian Navy and a proud member of the local Naval Association. He loved the outdoors, whether it was shovelling in the winter or tinkering at the cottage in the summer. He was a dedicated family man and absolutely loved family gatherings, especially at the family cottage on Lake Nosbonsing.

A celebration of his life will be held at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Road, North Bay on Thursday April 20^th from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 pm.

Donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation (cheques only) or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.  His family would like to thank the nursing staff on D3 for their TLC and a very special thank you to Dr. Michael Leckie whose care and compassion for Don was outstanding.
