Florence Caruso

January 9, 1925 ~ July 28, 2018 (age 93)

Florence Caruso (nee Deschesne) 1925-2018   A kind and loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend who believed in the power of faith and the love of family, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2018 in her 94th year, with her family by her side.

Beloved wife of Joseph Caruso (predeceased 1983) and Marcel Blondeau (predeceased 2004).
Loving mother of Anthony (Malcolm, predeceased) Geri Grant (Derek, predeceased) John (Jennifer) Paul, Michele McGuire (Patrick) Rosemary Poirier, (Karl, predeceased) And Joseph (Bonnie, predeceased).

Special Nana to 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by her parents, William Deschesne and Josephine Gauthier, brothers Horace, Daniel and Girard. Survived by her siblings, Esther Guertin, Veronica Lanouette and Gabriel (Huguette).  Sadly, missed by her Sister and Brother-in-Law Jeannette and Ted Corcoran, many nieces and nephews and by her dear friends, Dawn, Luke, Gail, Anne and Larry.

Mom loved to take care of others and her hands were never idle, creating beautiful works of art, mouth watering meals and amazing desserts which she happily shared with her family and friends. She loved spending time with her children and their families and one of her cherished times were her weekly visits with her sister/best friend, Esther.

Florence was an active CWL member for over 50 years. For 23 years she organized a food bank fundraiser in her building as well as donating all of the proceeds raised from selling her beautiful crafts throughout the year.

Because of the loving and daily support given by our sister Geri, mom lived out her final years with dignity and independence, something she cherished and fought fiercely to hold onto throughout many medical setbacks.

Cassellholme’s Apple Street became mom’s home because of the exceptional care, compassion and friendship received by all of the staff. For this we will be forever grateful.

Visitation at Hillside Funeral Home, Airport Road on Monday August 6th from 2 until 4 pm and 7 until 9 pm.  Mass at St. Peter the Apostle Church, Airport Road Tuesday August 7th at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Peter the Apostle Church Food Bank or the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
