Lionel Guertin

Guertin, Lionel (1925- 2019) - passed away Sunday January 6th 2019 at the North Bay Regional Health Center in his 93rd year.  Lionel was born March 15^th, 1925 in Chisholm, to Josephat and Emilie Guertin.  He married Rolande Pilon on May 7^th, 1955 and was her loving husband for 63 years. Predeceased by his parents, brothers Omer, John and Donald Guertin and sisters Rita Charbonneau and Jeanne d’Arc Laperriere. He was very proud of his six children, Lorraine St-Jean (Norm), Paulette Gauthier (Jim), Louise Courville (Roméo), Evelyne Landry (Ray), Rémi Guertin (Kim) and Suzanne Guertin.

He will be missed by his grandchildren, Raymond and Robert St-Jean, Danielle Gauthier, Eric (Jessica) and Stéfan Courville, Kayla (Jeremy), Vanessa, Nathan and Shianne Guertin.  He was blessed with one great grandchild Corinne Gauthier.

Lionel enjoyed his work with Standard Paving for many years and could recall all the roads that he had paved in North Bay.  He loved spending time with his family at their home in Chisholm and at their cottage on Wassi Lake.  He had many hobbies including horse shoes, bowling, skiing, and playing cards. He was an avid gardener and shared his abundance with his family, friends and neighbours.  Lionel was a hard worker and was always ready to lend a helping hand.  He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew him.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff on D3 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre and to his caring doctor Dr. Leckie.     

Family receiving friends on Saturday January 12th at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd. from 11 am until 1 pm. A celebration of Lionel’s life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home.
