Mary Colleen (Bennett) Wheeler

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Mary Colleen Wheeler (nee Bennett), loving wife of Jake Wheeler, born May 12 1945, passed away after a short illness on October 7, 2018 in her 74th year. She was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Stella Bennett and older brother Phil.

In their 55 years of marriage, Jake and Colleen had three children: John, Jacquie (Eric Whitehead), and Jim (Theresa) and grandchildren Terra, Andrew, Jenna, Steven and Diane.

She was much loved by her siblings Lawrence; Phil (Chris); Carol (Al Misener); Bernie; Bernadette (Jim Pelletier) ; Theresa (Art Scott) and many nieces and nephews, who all thought they were her favorite, as well as her extended family in the McWilliams and Freeman clans.   

Colleen will be remembered for her hilarious one-liners, delicious cherry cheesecake, and her famous Caesars (both the salads and the cocktails). She was excellent at keeping in touch and regularly called her cousins, long-time family friends and the Cottage Girls. She also loved to sing, especially when accompanied by Jake and his guitar.

Colleen’s humour and kindness ensured she made many friends during her life.
