Patrick Riddell Obituary

Patrick J. “Pat” Riddell

 October 19, 1939-August 19, 2019

After a long journey with Alzheimer’s Disease, Pat passed away at North Bay General Hospital, surrounded by his Canadian family. Born in Galway, Ireland to Patrick and Delia Riddell (nee Connell), Pat was one of 10 children. He is survived by his twin sister Angela (UK), his brother Vincent (Ireland) and his sister Bridie (Ireland), as well as several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his sisters Margaret, Anne and Rita, and his brothers Harry, Jo and Tommy.

Seeking adventure, Pat immigrated to Canada in 1959 and enjoyed a fulfilling career in mining throughout Northern Canada. In his retirement, Pat loved the outdoors through every season; fishing, hunting, boating, and spending time with his dog. He was happiest at his cottage on Lake Nipissing and his acreage in Lavigne Ontario.

Pat will be dearly missed by many; his family, his Canadian family; Jim and Marie-Paule Lemire and their daughters Chantal (Greg), Tammy, and Colleen (Jon) and their children; Jenna, Jody, Madison, Christopher and Noah. Fondly known as “Uncle” Pat to many, his memory will be cherished by several dear friends.

His family would like to acknowledge the outstanding care and support shown to Patrick throughout his illness and especially during his final days by Katherine, Mary and all of the staff of the B1 Unit at NBGH.

Cremation has taken place as per Pat’s wishes and his final resting place will be off the point of his beloved Target Island. Because of Pat’s love for animals, a donation to an animal shelter of your choice would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.

“May the good Lord hold you in the palm of his hand until we meet again.”

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
