Thérèse (Rivard) Vaillancourt

Vaillancourt, Thérèse (nee Rivard) - Surrounded with the love of her family and the gentle embrace of God, peacefully at Cassellholme, Home of the Aged on September 12, 2019.  Thérèse Vaillancourt (Rivard) went home to the Lord in her 92nd year.  Predeceased by her loving spouse Théodore of 58 years in 2008, her daughters Lise and Marie at birth and her parents Alfred and Hermine Rivard.  Survived by her children Guy (Ronda Sullivan), Marc (Diana Ryan), Lynne (Terry Melville), Berthe (Beth) (René Hébert), Jean (Janice Ryan), Jeanne (Gerry Richer) and Claire (Calvin Slater). Grandmother of 15 grandchildren and blessed with 6 great grandchildren.

She was a loving teacher for 35 years in the North Bay Area.  She touched many colleagues and students with her knowledge, kindness and faith.  Théodore and Thérèse owned and operated Dreamland Camp on Dugas Bay for 25 years.  Upon retirement, they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren and friends.  Her passion for reading was infectious and spread to those who knew her.  She leaves behind her living siblings, Lucille St-Hillaire (Noël, deceased), Marcel Rivard (Pat) and Evelyn Pelletier (Ben). Predeceased by her sisters Lea Guénette (Charles), Doris Cyr (Frank), brothers Albert Rivard (Gerry), Ernest (Diane, living).

There will be a celebration of life for Thérèse at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Road, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 pm, on Friday, September 20, 2019.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at Paroisse St. Vincent de Paul Church, on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Thérèse’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Hospital for Sick Children would be greatly appreciated.

The family thanks the staff on Maple Street at Cassellholme for the loving care they provided to our mother.
