Brian Gerrard Sharkey
February 8, 1960 to February 13, 2023
Brian “Buck” Sharkey, son of Charles and Jean Sharkey of North Bay, ON, passed away unexpectedly on February 13, 2023 at the NBRHC at the age of 63 surrounded by his family.
Loving husband to Lise Sharkey, proud father to Sue Sharkey (Jason), Jeff Sharkey (Amanda), Ashley McCauley (Michael), Adam Sharkey (Savannah), and adoring Papi to Brooklyn, Taylor, Kaylee, Callie, Finn, and Aria. He will forever be in the hearts of the “Eldee Kids.” He is survived by his mother, Jean Sharkey, his siblings Mark Sharkey (Lynn), Dean Sharkey (Kim), Jo-Ann O’Neil (Tim), and dearest best friend, Brian “N” Digiglio (Dianne). He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He enjoyed his 26 years at Tembec/RYAM, where he worked as an exceptional pipefitter, and he will be fondly remembered by his coworkers.
Brian and Lise had an unbreakable bond. Their love for each other will live on forever. Food was his love language - Greco’s being a favourite, second only to his wife’s cooking and baking. He was a lifelong fan of the Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays. He loved playing cards and darts, swimming and fishing, and having an “occasional beer” with his family and friends. There was always time for one more game of cards. He was a jokester - he loved making other people laugh (often with inappropriate jokes), and he could make anyone feel welcome. His laugh was heard from every room in the house. He was an incredible storyteller, his stories would keep you captivated for hours. He was an arm-wrestling champion, and loved challenging anyone to an arm wrestle. He loved listening to his music loud. He loved and spoiled his dogs, Bella and Betsy. His grandchildren brought him so much joy, and he always had little surprises waiting for them. He was kind, thoughtful, generous, and handsome. He was a gentle giant, whose presence was larger than life.
He has joined our Poppi in heaven.
Family receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd, on Sunday February 19th, 2023 from 1 until 2:30 pm. A celebration of his life will follow at 2:30.
