Sunstrum, Cecile (1931–2026)
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Cecile Sunstrum on Thursday, April 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Cecile was predeceased by her loving husband, Hartley, and her longtime companion, John. She was the proud and devoted mother of Doris, Linda, Diane, and Rick, and a cherished grandmother to Darryl, Stacey, Michelle, Joanne, April, and Greg. She is also lovingly remembered by her six great-grandchildren, and was predeceased by two.
Cecile will be deeply missed by her sister, Gertrude. She was predeceased by her sisters Yvette, Corrine, Noeline, Rita, and Denise, and by her brothers Raoul, Ernest, Armand, Lucien, and Roger.
Cecile will be remembered not only for her love of family, but also for her spirited personality and the expressions that made those around her smile. When something didn’t sit right, she would say, “by the popcorn,” and when she felt something was nonsense, she’d simply remark, “this is for the birds.” These sayings, like her, will not be forgotten.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
Donations in Cecile’s memory may be made to Diabetes Canada.
