Dieter Maurer Obituary

Dieter Maurer, formerly from Temagami, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at the age of 87 at Nipissing Manor with family by his side.

Dieter was born on February 13, 1935 in Stuttgart, Germany to Franz Josef and Luise Maurer. He worked as a ski patrol in Germany before moving to Canada and becoming a business owner as a small engine mechanic in Gravenhurst, then operating Matabitchuan Lodge in Temagami for 50 years.

He enjoyed being at the Lodge every May to October and building models.

Dieter is survived by his wife Marlis of 62 years. He is survived by his children Robert (Charlene), Thomas (Dorothy), and Susan (Des). Opa will be missed by his grandchildren Brad, Andrea, Emily, and Nicole and his great-grandchildren Alyss, Noah, Dawson, Oliver and Harvey. He is survived by his brother, Klaus of Washington State and nieces and nephews in Germany, Switzerland and USA.

Per Dieter’s wishes, no service will be held.
