Dorothy Hyndman Obituary

Dorothy passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025 in North Bay at the age of 96. The youngest of six children, Dorothy was born and raised in Aberdeen Scotland.

Her father George Hunter Pirie passed away in 1935 when she was a young child. The family was raised by her mother Marjory Clark Pirie through the trying times of pre and post WWII Britain. Eventually Dorothy would care for her mother until her death in 1961, after which she immigrated to Canada with her husband and young son to be closer to family in Thunder Bay.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, William (Bill) Hyndman. She is also predeceased by siblings, Helen, Charles, William, Marjory and Georgina.

She leaves behind her son Michael and daughter in law Ruth.

She will be missed by Marilyn, Stan, Ed, Sandy, Margie, Jon and Jewel who stayed in touch with their Aunt Dorothy right up to her final days.

Dorothy and Bill would travel back to Scotland many times as it was in their hearts their real home. They also enjoyed travelling to Thunder Bay, Victoria and Williams Lake to visit family.

Special thanks to the staff at Northern Heights Community, the D3 staff of the North Bay Regional Health Centre, Dr. Daniel Garcia and her wonderful angel Marta.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service. Dorothy's life was a testament to the power of kindness. In her memory, she asked that each person strive to be kinder to one another.
