Dorothy Stanley Obituary

Dorothy Stanley of Redbridge, Ontario passed away on Tuesday March 12th, 2024 at The North Bay Regional Health Centre in her 87th year.

Dorothy was born in Elderslie Township to parents Norman and Ina Hagedorn on October 18th, 1937. Her childhood was spent in Paisley, Ontario. As an adult she lived first in Bruce County, moved to various communities in northern Ontario, finally settling in Redbridge. Dorothy was well-known as the proprietor and co-owner of The Redbridge General Store alongside her husband Rennie from 1985 to 2003. Dorothy was a remarkable woman, who lived in dedication to her family. There are many things which the people who knew her will never forget. Some will remember her kindness, some her firmness; some will remember her strength of will, some her need to care and provide for those around her. All will remember her presence. While she took those things with her, she left behind a legacy of love, strength, and family devotion that will span the many generations she touched.

Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband Renold (Rennie), cherished children Susan (Douglas) Coleman, Marie (Michel) Therrien, Robert (Carol) Becker, Tanya (John) King, daughter-in-law Sherie (Donald) Becker, and son-in-law Carl (Sheryl) Folsom. Proud grandmother to Stefanie, Jennifer, Rubin, Vicki, Christopher, Timothy, Eric, Patrick, Monique, Sarah, River, Damian, Spencer, Davison, as well as her many great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her sister Viola Nelson, and brothers Robert Hagedorn (Mary), and David Hagedorn (Marita). Dorothy is predeceased by two cherished children, Donald (Sherie) Becker and Sheryl (Carl) Folsom, parents Ina and Norman Hagedorn, and siblings Harvey, Margaret, Gladys, Irene, Muriel, and Donald.

A gathering of friends and family will be announced at a later date. Sincere thanks to the staff at North Bay Regional Health Centre for all their care and support.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to The Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
