With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Douglas Frank Wilkinson in his 78th year. Douglas passed with his loving wife by his side at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice on August 27th, 2023.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife Kathy (nee Vizeau), dear father of Lynn Holden (Rob) and Deanna Wilkinson-Plourde (Luc). He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Victoria Wilkinson, Allison Holden (Taylor), Christina Holden, and Piper Wilkinson-Plourde, as well as his great-grandchildren Grace, Leilan, and Karson.
He will be dearly missed by his friends and family, including his brother Ken Wilkinson (Rita), brother in-law Alan Vizeau (Judy), and his sisters in-law Jackie Wilkinson and Maria Scott (Keith) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doug is predeceased by his parents, Estelle and Lorne Wilkinson, his brothers Clyde, Neil, and Larry (Sally).
Doug will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man. He cherished his family and friends above all else and loved nothing more than to find himself surrounded by all those he held dear. In his free time, Doug could be found passionately working on various woodworking projects. He built and crafted many items over the years as well as refinished several treasured antique pieces.
As a long time employee of the North Bay Airport, Doug was fortunate to work with international agencies on a skid-testing venture in multiple countries. Doug was recognized for his work with NASA in Norway, a fond memory and story he loved to share. Before his work as a Field Foreman at the airport, Doug ran his own fleet of machines. At the same time, he volunteered as an auxiliary police officer with the Ontario Provincial Police.
The family has chosen not to hold a funeral at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in Memory of Douglas Wilkinson will be greatly appreciated. A heartfelt thank you towards Dr. Graham and the amazing staff at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice for your compassionate care and ongoing support.
You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. It's not goodbye, just "See you next time."
