In Loving Memory of Dwayne Sohm June 13th 1960 - August 15th 2025
It is with immeasurable sadness that we must regrettably announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Dwayne Sohm on August 15th 2025. A devoted husband, proud father, and dedicated public servant, Dwayne left us far too soon.
At the heart of Dwayne's life was his beloved family. He was a husband to the love of his life, Donna, and a very proud father to his daughter Kali-Ann, whose accomplishments and determination brought him endless joy and pride. His love for them was constant, even when duty called him far from home.
Dwayne was proud of his remarkable and storied career as a wildland firefighter. He served the people of Ontario with unwavering commitment for over 40 years with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
His work took him across the country and as far away as Montana, fighting forest fires and protecting communities from the devastating forces of nature. His career sometimes demanded long stretches away from home and personal sacrifice. Dwayne was proud to serve so others could be safe.
Dwayne will be remembered not only for his bravery and service, but for his warmth, the wisdom he shared, and the deep love and commitment he held for those closest to him. Dwayne was the pillar of strength for his family. He was who they turned to when they needed guidance and clarity. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the forests he helped to preserve, and with his family who he loved above all.
Dwayne was predeceased by his father Donald and infant sister Stacey Ann. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Donna, daughter Kali-Ann (Zachary), Father-in-Law Shorty Jodouin, Mother Jean Sohm (née Campbell), Siblings Kimberly Forsyth (Gerry) and Catherine Sanford (Kevin), along with his nieces and nephews.
Dwayne loved spending his time in the garage with his dogs Toby, Ebby and grand dog Henry. He was passionate about hockey, cheering on his favourite hockey team the Toronto Maple Leafs. He could also be found at the Memorial Gardens cheering on his local favourites the North Bay Battalion.
The family will receive visitors at Hillside Funeral Services in North Bay on Saturday August 23rd, 2025. Visitation will be from 2:00PM - 4:00PM, with a short service and celebration of his life beginning at 4:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
Dwayne will be forever missed and his memory deeply cherished.
