Gary Pearce Obituary

Pearce, Gary Joseph
April 29, 1951 - April  18, 2026

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gary Peace in his 74th  year.

He is survived by his beautiful children Angela and Jordan (Kari Anne), his special friend Carolann, his loving sister Marilyn Pearce Adachi (Dave), his nephew Paul Adachi, great nephews Mason and Zac Adachi and several cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Conrad and Zena Pearce.

He was extremely proud of his children and has many fond memories of when the kids were young, coaching Jordan's sports teams and taking him to hockey and ball games and rock concerts, and taking Angela skating, cross country skiing and to her play practices and dance lessons and all the adventurous play time with their fun loving family dog Ranger.

Gary was born in Cochrane (home town of Tim Horton) and his favourite sport was hockey. He played every year growing up in Cochrane continuing to play at university and when he relocated to North Bay. When he retired as a player he remained involved in the game, coaching his son  Jordan and was also the team optometrist for the North Bay Battalion (OHL) and Nipissing University Lakers (OUA).

Gary graduated from Cochrane High School as an Ontario Scholar. He then went to Western University in London majoring in math and science and the University of Waterloo for optometry graduating in 1976 with honours. He was dedicated to his profession and was in practice for 49 years. He was also the optometrist for several nursing homes in the area and for many summers conducted eye clinics at Bear Island on Lake Temagami. He is a past president of the North Bay and district optometrist society, former member of the CNIB advisory board and former member of the Optometrist Club of North Bay. He also had a passion for music, playing in several bands in his younger years, writing songs, releasing CDs and donating the proceeds to charity.

Gary has been cremated. A celebration of life will take place at Bethel Gospel Hall on Saturday May 23rd from 2 until 4 pm. His ashes will be at the All Saints Mausoleum 128 Golf Course Road North Bay.

If desired, donations in his name can be made to the North Bay Regional Health Center Foundation.
