Gilles Laferriere Obituary

Laferriere, Gilles Renald (1937-2021) - We are saddened to announce the passing of Gilles at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Saturday January 23, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family, he was 83 years old.

Devoted husband of 61 years to Cecile (nee Lagace). Proud father of Guy (Adrianna), and Paul (Rita). Grandfather to Darren and Alyssa, great-grandfather to Jacob and Alexandria. Brother of Gaetan (Lorena), Robert, Vincent and Louise Guillemette (Conrad). Predeceased by his parents Amedee and Rachel as well as his sister Denise Dashney.

Gilles was a long time employee of Staniforth Lumber (now Columbia Forest Products) where he was well known as “The Weather Man”, always up to date with the latest forecast. An avid hunter and fisherman, with a lifelong passion for playing music with his father and brothers.

Due to current Covid restrictions a funeral mass will be held at a later date.

Thank you to the wonderful attentive staff in the palliative care department of NBRHC.

In lieu of flowers donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
