Grace Elizabeth Hucul (Bush)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grace, on February 5th, 2026. Mom was born in Elk Lake, and made North Bay her home. She shared her kind and motherly spirit with the many people she met and knew.
Mom was predeceased by: her parents, Richard Bush and Francis Bush; Dennis Belmore (Partner) and her siblings, Sheila (Don), Helen (Bob), Richard (Eileen), Bill and Stephen (Corinne).
Mom is survived by: her sons Chris (Jessica) and Jason, Grand Daughter Evelyn Grace Lorraine, Step-Daughter Kim (Marty) Reed, Grand Children Dale (Karla) Reed, Neil Reed, Brianna Belmore, Daniella Belmore, Great Grand Children (Dale) Emerson and Madalyn, Nephews Jeff (Kirsty) Boyuk (children Easton and Katelyn) and Doug Schandlen, Travis, Nieces Stephanie and Jennifer; cousin Pat O'Brien, daughter Susan Hall and cousin Debbie Lauenberger.
When we were young, Mom was a stay at home mom. Taking care of us until we started school. She would volunteer with school events like hotdog days. It's a fond memory with my friends 50 years later. While I was in high school at West Ferris, my mom attended as well to obtain her high school diploma. Her presence at school was always welcome, however overheard classroom talk would lead to some interesting evening conversations and explaining. lol.
Mom took to understanding and filling out tax returns, which led to a spring time seasonal home business. She went to Canadore to become a PSW, allowing her to follow her character of wanting to help others.
With her long time partner Dennis, they enjoyed travelling to sunny destinations, Europe and across Canada. Summers were spent at the trailer enjoying the trailer friends community.
As my Mom's Alzheimer's progressed, my brother and I gained a deeper appreciation for who my mom was. Watching Christine and Helen (two of her PSWs) and Lorraine, my Mother In Law, help my mom with such grace, dignity and compassion, we also saw the care our mom provided others and how important it was. Thank you for your selflessness, humanity and dedication providing support to families day in and day out. You have our fullest and deepest gratitude.
Jason and I had the unique experience of watching our Mother blossom from being our Mom to Mom and Caretaker to many many others. As we grew older, she wanted to do more. She had the strength and courage to reach out and explore. We are very proud to say she was our Mom. She was a remarkable Lady who guided us to who we are today.
We will miss you Mom.
There will be a spring-early summer celebration of life. Details to be determined.
