Grace Price Obituary

Grace (Gracie) Norma Price

June 11, 1932 - September 12, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Grace (Gracie) Norma Price on September 12, 2024, at the enviable age of 92. Gracie’s final days featured regular visits from family and friends, as well as afternoons in the company of her husband of 69 years, Edward (Ted) Price.

Grace was born to the Weber family in Hanover, Ontario, in 1932. In 1955, she married Ted in Hanover, and in 1965, they moved to North Bay, where they built a life and family.

Grace and Ted were well known for their love of outdoor adventure. They spent much time hiking trails or exploring in their canoe. They shared a passion for the natural world, which led to their involvement with many nature and environmental organizations.

Grace will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Anywhere Grace was present, she was a beacon of hospitality to family, friends, neighbours, and strangers. Gracie’s flower gardens were admired by many, with her home often filled with beautiful homegrown arrangements. During her children’s school years, she was a constant source of support, giving her time and talents to innumerable school theatre productions, bake sales, school trips, and countless other activities. Not one to be idle, Gracie knitted numerous sweaters and baby blankets, and in the evenings, she made clothing and quilts for friends and family. As her family grew, this same care and attention extended to her grandchildren, whom she treasured. Grammy Grace proudly displayed family photos to celebrate the adventures and accomplishments of the family.

Grace leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her husband, Edward (Ted) Price, and her children, James Price (Ruth), Laura Sinclair (Rod), and Tanya McCubbin. She is predeceased by her daughter, Margot Lloyd (Glynn Lloyd, remarried to Nancy Monteith). But her spirit lives on in her grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Grammy Grace was the proud grandmother of Hayden Price, Emily Yates (David), Malcolm McCubbin (Jessica Desrochers), Hudson McCubbin (and their father, Robert McCubbin), Drew Sinclair, Nate Sinclair (who predeceased her in 2024), and great-granddaughter, Aurora Yates.

Grace is also survived by her sisters, Shirley Mercey (Frank, deceased) and Sharon Feltis (Kenneth, deceased), as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the North Bay Regional Health Centre staff for their exceptional care and support during Grace’s last weeks. Their dedication and compassion made a difficult time more bearable.

Visitation at Hillside Funeral Home will be on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
