Isabel Dora (Sheldon) Phelan

ISABEL DORA PHELAN (née Sheldon), 73, of North Bay Ontario (born 20 June 1947, Kapuskasing Ontario) passed peacefully on March 17, 2021 in the presence of her closest family after a sudden resurgence of cancer.

After a 30-plus year career as a teacher, Isabel enjoyed retirement with her beloved husband Frank, pet sitting and connecting with their vibrant local community.

She was proud to be born and raised in Kapuskasing.  Isabel had a lifelong love of nature and cottage life.

Isabel and Frank’s 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated in 2019 with many family members in attendance. The memories made at this and other gatherings with family and friends were treasured by Isabel and Frank.  

Isabel is predeceased by her parents Frank and Dora Sheldon (née Bewzak). She is survived by husband Frank Phelan and their children Clayton (Melanie), Oliver (Amanda); sister Frances (David Bednarz); grandchildren Kalene (Jeremy Bin), Paige, Javin; great-grandchildren Owen and Aurora Bin; nephew Ben (Tara) and son Eric, niece Jessica (Nelson Lebre) and daughters Isabelle and Victoria.

A Celebration of Life will be planned once COVID restrictions are lifted.
