James Gleason

Gleason, James (born February 15th, 1942, Powassan, Ontario) - It is with great sorrow that the Gleason family announces the passing of James Allen Gleason on Sunday July 4th, 2021, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, North Bay, Ontario.

James will be missed by his beloved wife, Margaret Gleason (nee O’Connor).  He is also survived by his first wife Jean Dufoe and loving father to Kelly Gleason and Chad Gleason.  James will be dearly missed by his remaining sister Marlene Sawchuck, James was predeceased by his siblings Harold Gleason and Dawn Carole Sawchuck.

James Gleason served his community through his career as a Police Officer (retired 1999), as an Usher starting in 2004 and then as an Extraordinary Minister 2010 at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption. Other works included the Make A Wish Foundation and as a driver supporting the Motherhouse in North Bay (Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie). James enjoyed the Alzheimer’s Breakfast Club with Margaret for its support and many friendships. The legendary marathon ping pong games with Tom Kilmartin and Bernard Lacroix at Tom’s garage were highlighted as one of his favorite places to be regardless of season.

Celebratory Funeral Mass on Thursday July 8th 10:00 am, at the Pro Cathedral of the Assumption, North Bay, Ontario.
