Janet (Lachnit) Jones

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Jones on February 19, 2020 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, at the age of 54 yrs. 

Janet will be missed forever by daughters; Lindsay (Cory) and Taylor (Kyle), whom she was so proud of.  She is survived by her husband and best friend, Jeff Jones and her mom Shirley Lachnit. She was predeceased by her father, Donald Lachnit, and step-father Roger Deschamp.  Janet was the precious sister of Ken Lachnit and Irene Stuart.

Also grieving are her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, friends, colleagues, and her Gymtrix family.

Janet has been part of the Gymtrix family for nearly 20 years. She was the Assistant Competition Convener for Sunshine Classic since its inception, and was awarded the prestigious Lil Babineau Club Builder Award from Gymnastics Ontario in 2018.

She was a second mom to so many gymnasts over the years and has been described as the “face of all gym moms”. She was the ultimate cheerleader and a regular fixture at the gym. In addition to having been a driving force behind Sunshine Classic for almost two decades, this extraordinary lady was a multi talented, fiercely loyal, incredible woman, who was loved by all who knew her.

Our hearts are breaking but we know that Janet is now at peace. 

A Celebration of Janet’s life will be held in the upper gallery at Gymtrix – 7 Ferris Drive, North Bay on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m.
