Soucy, Jean-Guy (May 19, 1933 - May 19, 2022)
Guy (Jean-Guy) passed away peacefully, on his birthday, with his family by his side at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice on Thursday May 19, 2022 at the age of 89.
Guy was predeceased by his loving wife Noëlla. Proud father of Raymond (Amber), Joanne Snow (Walt), Robert (Michele) and Jeannette Soucy (Rob Suessmann). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Amnesty, Chantal, Marissa, Dominique, Joëlle and Great Grandchildren Samuel, Martine, Cianna and Hudson.
Guy was a respected businessman in the North Bay community. As the proud owner of Pinehill Coffee Shop for 30 yrs, he had a friendly smile for all. As an avid community supporter, he & Noëlla were pleased to sponsor a Pinehill Coffee Shop Midget AAA Hockey Team for 6 yrs. This culminated in the team winning the 1984 Canada Cup and lead to one of Guy’s proudest moments, and he was awarded the Pete Palangio Sportman of The Year award.
Guy greatly enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman for many years.
Always a very social man, nothing gave Guy more joy than welcoming family and friends at his home or at his beautiful cottage. There was an open-door policy at all times.
A true family man Guy loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and recently great grandchildren whenever he could.
Guy also enjoyed traveling immensely, and with Noëlla at his side, they explored many parts of the world. Guy was also a very spiritual man and in later years he was able do to several religious Pilgrimages which gave him great joy and peace.
We are deeply grateful to the amazing hospice staff who were instrumental in extending our Dad’s life and making his journey more peaceful.
