Jerry Goulais

Goulais, Andrew Jerry - passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Cassellholme in North Bay ON after a lengthy illness.

He was born on May 13, 1944 in Garden Village Ontario to Harry and Philomene Goulais (predeceased). 

Beloved husband of Linda (Beaucage) Goulais. Jerry was extremely loving and proud of his daughters, Mary Beaucage of Nipissing First Nation, and Aimee Coderre and her husband Bobby, of Cobalt.

He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren Tyler Beaucage and Isabella Coderre and his great grandson Rylan. Jerry was the last surviving sibling in his family.

 He was predeceased by his brothers James, John, Maurice, Benjamin, Agnus, and his sisters Diane, Alexina, Jane, Catherine, and Madeline. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and many friends. 

Jerry loved the land and his culture, and proud of his community.  He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman who could easily live off the land. He still spoke the Ojibway language. He was deputy chief of Nipissing First Nation in the 1980's. He enjoyed sharing stories of his youth and of his work as an iron worker. He was a proud member of the iron workers local 786. His biggest love was for his family, offering advice and wisdom to his nieces and nephews. 

The family wish to express a special thank you to the staff of Cassellholme for their excellent care.

Family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd., on Monday April 24^th, 2017 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday April 25^th at Hillside at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the NFN youth culture program or NFN language program.
