Obituary

Jocelyn Ann Marie (Jo) Lalande

February 5, 1972 – May 9, 2021

It is with deep and extreme sadness that our family announces the sudden and unexpected death of our cherished and forever loved daughter, sister, aunt, and niece on May 9, 2021 in her 50th year.

Jocelyn is survived by her loving mother Gertrude Lalande (Van Mierlo) and the late Emile Lalande, who predeceased her in 1989. Beloved sister to James, Gerald (Wendy), Jennifer Lalande (Rene), and Jillian Manner (Gabe); caring aunt to Matthew Lalande (Sarah) and Alexander Lalande (Tyler). Jocelyn will be greatly missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by her grandparents Antoinette and Hector Lalande and Johanna and Leo Van Mierlo, her godparents Katherine and Charlie Van Mierlo, and three paternal uncles (Frank, Edgar, and Hector Lalande). Her love for animals shined through as she cared for and loved with all her heart her beloved pet companions Jett and Jepplin, who will greatly miss her loving attention; her precious “bitty kitty” Jorjee predeceased her in January.

Jocelyn was a devout Catholic at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, where she served as a 33 year member of the CWL, 6 years which included serving on the executive; she also enjoyed being a reader at the Saturday and Sunday masses. Jocelyn graduated with honors from St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, where she received the Governor General award for her academic achievements. She took joy in volunteering within her community for various organizations such as The North Bay Humane Society, The Canadian Cancer Society, and the North Bay Capitol Centre to name a few.

Jocelyn had the gift of gab and a contagious sense of humour that was loved by all, In her past-time, she used her artistic mind to create beautiful artwork and cards for many family and friends.

Gone from our sight, but never from our heart
