John Stratton Blacker

Blacker, John (October 14, 1940 – November 03, 2023)

John Stratton Blacker passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on November 03, 2023 after an unexpected battle with cancer in his 83rd year.

John leaves behind his wife Carolyn, his sons Ro (Ginette) and Scott as well as his 4 grandchildren Taylor, Reed, Kaylee and Tyson. He will be sorely missed by his sister Maureen, his nieces Anne, Pam and Jane and his great nephews and great niece.

John was born in Toronto but North Bay was always his home. After first serving at CFB North Bay in the 1960’s, John spent the remainder of his working years working in the security field. His favourite past time was duck hunting on Lake Talon with his group of Canadian and American friends with his beloved retriever, Spencer at his side. John was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 445 in Callander.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by his family. The family wishes to extend a most heartfelt thank you to the nursing and palliative care staff on C3 for their considerate care given to John over the past months.
