Joseph Lorne Cutts Obituary

Cutts, Lorne- It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Lorne Cutts on Thursday September 25th, 2025 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 93. Dear husband of the late Elizabeth Anne Munse. Dear son of the late Frank and Bertie Cutts and siblings, the late brothers ; Stanley, Hadley and Allan Cutts. Lorne is the father of Byron (Lisa) Cutts of North Bay, Robert Cutts of Trout Creek and Dennis Cutts of Tilsonburg. Dear grandfather of Bailey (Damien) Burke and Luke (Leanne) Cutts and great grandfather of Gage and Olive Burke and Sonny and Ivy Cutts.

Lorne was educated at Linbrook Public School in Oakville, Oakville Trafalgar High School and Queens University in Kingston where he received training for the municipal clerk and treasure course.

Lorne was employed at the Oakville Municipal office where he was the tax collector for 33 years during the time when the town of Oakville and township of Trafalgar were amalgamated, when he retired April 30, 1989. Moving onto Astorville;  where he joined his daughter-in law’s parents Jack and Shirley Turvey to own and operate two flower shops; Eliza’s flowers in Callander and Hart’s flowers in Powassan. Lorne retired from his position in September of 1993.

After retirement, Lorne joined the volunteers at North Bay Regional Health Centre where he held executive positions for 20 years until retirement on August 21, 2018. While volunteering, Lorne was nominated for his volunteer work where he won the National and Provincial winner of Salute for Senior Service award in Canada. Lorne was a member of the Callander Horticultural Society and North Bay Horticultural Society hold executive positions in each. He was also a member of the Bonsai and a regular attendee of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter days.

Lorne will be resting at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES,  362 Airport Rd North Bay on Monday September 29th, 2025 from 2pm until 4pm and 6pm until 8pm. The funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter days, 988 Airport Rd North Bay on Tuesday September 30th, 2025 at 11am. Internment will take place at a later date at the St Judes Cemetery, 258 Lakeshore Rd West in Oakville.
