At North York General Hospital, on January 9th 2026, Joy Ann Perkins passed away in her 94th year.
Loving sister of Jane Collins (nee Perkins) and Hartley Perkins, Aunt to Bill, Suzanne, Martha and David, Great Aunt to Averi, Harison, Austin, William, Jonathan, Rebecca, Adam, Taylor and Nicholas. Predeceased by her parents Frances and Clarence Perkins of Powassan, Ontario and cherished Aunt Joy Huntington of North Bay.
Joy Ann was a world traveller and dedicated educator for most of her life. She was a professional teacher from 1951 to 2002 teaching in Ontario and overseas in England. Joy Ann was an avid reader who often gave cherished books to her nieces and nephews. She was always interested in a conversation about what you were reading or world news. She believed it was “good to always have a book on the go”. Joy Ann had close friends in Toronto, Powassan and North Bay whose friendships she cherished, Bill, David, Marilyn and Martha. She found peace and joy skiing downhill and cross country on frozen Lake Nipissing.
As per Joy Ann’s wishes there will not be a funeral. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the North York General would be greatly appreciated.
