Lillian Curnew Obituary

Dorothy Lillian Curnew

July 5, 1940 – April 5, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lillian Curnew who left us peacefully on April 5, 2025, at the age of 84, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Born on July 5, 1940, in Garden Village, Sturgeon Falls, Lillian was the beloved daughter of the late Mary Stevens and Isidore Lariviere. She was predeceased by her loving husband Clayton Curnew, her sister Melda, and her brothers Albert, Archie, Oliver, Paul and Andrew.

Lillian is lovingly remembered by her siblings Evelyn, Alec and Lawrence; her devoted daughters Wanda (John) and Corina (Augusto) ; her cherished grandchildren Stefan (Sonja), Daniella (Simon), and Ashley (Ben); and her adored great-grandchildren Sofia and Saige.

Lillian was the kind of woman who made life brighter just by being in the room. Her laugh was contagious, her energy magnetic, and her love for her family was the anchor of everything she did. She was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved—sharing stories, laughter, and a good meal. Whether it was heading out to the doughnut shop to spend time with friends, or simply spending time with her grand- and great grandchildren, Lillian lived with joy and warmth that touched everyone around her.

She worked hard all her life and took great pride in her years as a waitress, where she was known for her friendly smile, quick wit, and incredible work ethic. She made lasting connections wherever she went—customers became friends, and friends became family.

A visitation to celebrate Lillian and Clayton will be held on July 4, 2025, at Hillside Funeral Services, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. est., with a funeral service to follow at 11am, followed by a celebration of life on July 5, which would have been her 85th birthday, in Garden Village, details to follow. All who knew and loved Lillian and Clayton are warmly invited to the potluck to come celebrate their life, light, and the beautiful legacy they leave behind.

A family potluck and heavenly 85th birthday celebration for Lillian will take place on Saturday July 5, 2025, in Garden Village starting around 3 pm.
