Lyle Davis Obituary

Lyle Gordon Davis Sr.

January 11, 1942 – June 29, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lyle Gordon Davis Sr. on Saturday June 29, 2024 at Nipissing Serenity Hospice with family by his side.

Lyle, an Ontario Northland Retiree, was proud of his 34 years of dedicated service. During his time at the ONR, he served as the local union President; as well as with the Employee Assistance Program prior to his retirement.  Lyle made a lasting mark on his colleagues; known for his friendly demeanor and dedication to helping others.

With a passion for the sport of hockey he was frequently found at West Ferris Arena.  He loved coaching, watching games, volunteering or sharpening skates.  He believed that it was important to be part of the local community.  He was honored with a Life Membership with West Ferris Minor Hockey for his contributions. Lyle was also a life long Toronto Maple Leaf fan, and enjoyed playing at the jr. level as well as recreationally as a goalie.  His passion for hockey was matched only by the joy he found in sharing it with his family and friends.

Known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Lyle could light up any room with his jokes and playful spirit.  He was a social butterfly and was always available to listen to those who needed a friendly ear.  His laughter and good-natured teasing will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A true outdoorsman, Lyle loved camping, fishing and boating.  He found great joy in being outdoors and was known to have spent many summers in Mikisew and along the South River with his family.

Lyle leaves behind his devoted spouse of 64 years, Margaret, and their children Lyle Jr. (deceased), Cheryl (Rob) and Greg (Julie); and cherished grandchildren: Chantal (Garnet), Eric, Tyler, Katie and Casson.

As per his personal wishes, there will be no service.
