Marcel Nault Obituary

It is with great sorrow that the family announces Marcel’s sudden passing after a brief battle with cancer.  He died peacefully at the North Bay Hospital on September 1st, 2020 at the age of 57.  He was born in Timmins Ontario on March 24th, 1963. He died like he lived, with a smile on his face, surrounded by the people he loved!  Marcel was a gentle soul who lived life to the fullest…but at his own pace. He was known for his calm demeanor, laid back approach to life and his unending kindness.

More than anything, Marcel enjoyed watching his girl dance on stage.  He was very proud of her remarkable talent and performing spirit.  He also enjoyed spending time with his boys fishing on his boat, riding his motorcycle, and his life’s work, Diamond Drilling.  He loved being in a house full of people filled with happy “noise” celebrating with the family and friends he held dear.  You would often hear him telling animated and entertaining mining stories about the adventures he had been on and the people he shared those moments with.  He was always willing to help a person in need, especially the people of Africa whom he loved and supported through his work with Foraco, they referred to him as “The Legend” which he will always be!

Marcel is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Shannon Austin-Nault, their daughter Hope Austin-Nault, by his sons,  Rocky Nault (Mallerie), Danny Nault (Amber) and his grandchildren Lincoln, Thor, Lily, Abbigail, and Boston.  He is also survived by his sisters, Monique Jennings and Carole Nault, his brothers Yvon Nault, and Rene Nault, his mother and father-in law Ruth and Barry Austin, sister in law Heather Gerber (Bill), brother-in-law Keith Austin (Angie) and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.  He was predeceased by his son Marcel Junior Nault, his parents Maurice & Estelle Nault, his brother in laws Clayton Boisvert and Joe Jennings and his nephew Shawn Jennings. Marcel’s heart will live on inside all those who had the good fortune to know and love him.  May he live in heaven as he lived on earth!

Due to Covid-19, a small family celebration of life was held.  Remembrance donations to the Hope Austin-Nault Education Fund would be greatly appreciated.  You can donate via cash or cheque addressed to Hope Austin-Nault at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Road North Bay, Ontario P1B 8W9.  Or via e-transfer at ollahope6@icloud.com.
