Michael Martineau Obituary

Martineau, Michael Thomas (1958-2025)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces Michael’s sudden, but peaceful passing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Michael was the loving husband to Natalie. The proud father to Christine, Matthew (Messy Margaret), Kimberlin (Patrick), Michael Jr., and Myles. Loving Grampie to Kyle (Emma), Joshua, Lucas, P.J, and baby Keelyn (due July 2025). Loving Great-grandfather to Charlotte, Benjamin and Madelaine. Brother to Lorna, Marie, and Timothy. Michael was predeceased by his sister Cathy and his parents Lorne and Joan. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Michael loved not only his children and grand/great grandchildren, but he also loved being a heavy equipment operator. He loved people and shared many funny stories with the people he worked with. Michael leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and pride in his work. Regardless of what job or project he was involved in, it was always done to the best of his ability.

Family will be receiving friends at the Royal Canadian Legion in Temagami, on April 11, 2025, from 2pm to 6pm for a celebration of life. A luncheon and refreshments will be provided courtesy of the family's lifelong friend Sue Blais.

We wish to express our most sincere gratitude to the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit staff members at NBRHC for taking such amazing care of Michael, he was fond of all of you. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ashish Patel and Dr. Jessica Maaskant, as well as registered nurses Lexi Dobson, Dane Masse, and Julie Cote for the compassionate care they provided to us and to Michael. Thank you to our cousin Andrew Alton and to Kim Parliament for the love and support they provided to Natalie and family during this difficult time. We also want to extend the most heartfelt thank you to Doug Turner for being Michael's lifelong best friend and for being present at his bedside as he took his final breath. You are all appreciated more than you know.

Donations in Michael’s memory can be made to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation (“Greatest Needs Fund” which allocates donated funds throughout all departments in the health centre).
