Michael (Mike) McGinn

With sadness the family of Mike McGinn announces his passing on November 9th, 2023 in North Bay, Ontario. 

82 years ago, Mike’s journey began in Three Brooks, New Brunswick with his parents, Chester and Pheobe (Giberson) McGinn (dec), his brother Charles (dec), sister Maryann (dec) and later with his sister Patricia (dec).

Mike met his sweetheart, Kathy (Brown) McGinn on a blind date, set up by his buddy, Cleo. Soon after, Kathy stole his heart and married on May 5th, 1962. 

About 4 years later, Kathy and Mike started a family with their children Tim (Marta) and Kim (Roger) and now enjoy their grandchildren, Jared, Logan (Tim) and Michel, Felix and Gabby (Kim) along with their nieces and nephews spread across Canada.

Mike spent his days chasing numbers as an Accountant for the North Bay Psychiatric Hospital and then with the Ministry of Community and Social Services until he retired.   When he wasn’t working, you would find Mike on the golf course with his buddies, playing baseball, snowmobile racing, playing pool, camping and fishing.  Mike’s sister, Maryann would often say that “Mike could catch a fish in a mud puddle”. 

Those interested in attending visitation, for Mike are asked to wear bright colors in his honor.

Family receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Rd, on Thursday November 16th from 6 until 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mike to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation or the North Bay Humane Society would be appreciated by his family.
