Neil Belecque Obituary

Neil Joseph Belecque

December 20, 1939 – April 12, 2025

With sadness in our hearts and gratitude for the years we shared, we announce the peaceful passing of Neil Joseph Bélecque on April 12, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born in Astorville, Ontario, Neil was a strong, independent soul who lived life his way. A self-employed labourer of many trades, he built his life on hard work, resourcefulness, and pride in a job well done. Whether it was building, fixing, or lending a hand, Neil was never afraid to get his hands dirty and do what needed to be done — and he did it with grit and heart.

But Neil’s work was only one part of who he was. He was a true outdoorsman with a love for motorcycles, nature, and music. A long-time Harley-Davidson enthusiast, he found freedom on the open road, and nothing brought him more joy than a good ride. In his younger years, Neil enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, or taking the snowmobile out for a ride.

Neil was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Gisele (née Gagné), his parents Henri Bélecque and Lea Gauthier, as well as his great-grandson, Johnny Lamontagne.

Neil leaves behind a family who loved him deeply: his children Mike (Kim), Bryan (Cheryl), Kathy (Wade), and Roxanne (Eric); and his grandchildren Shannon (Nick), Shayla (Jake), Jasmine (Joey), Morgan (Nicholas), Owen (Brenna), Dayna (Mark), Kelsey (Jacob), Emilie (Cohen), and Natalie, and his 8 great-grandchildren — each carrying a piece of his legacy with them. He will be dearly missed by his 3 surviving sisters, Therese Labrecque, Lina Bélecque, and Lilliane Turcotte, his family, friends, and all those who were lucky enough to know him somehow.

Family receiving friends at the Bonfield Community Centre, 100 Yonge st. Bonfield, on Saturday May 24th, 2025 from 10:30am until time of prayer service at 11:30am. A luncheon will be held at 12 noon with burial to follow at Ste Bernadette Cemetery at 1:30pm where he and Gisele will be laid to rest together. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to take a ride, strum a few chords, or raise a glass in his memory.

“Ride free, Neil. You’ll always be with us on the road.”
