Langill, Peter (1953–2026)
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Peter Langill at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, with his loving family by his side.
Beloved husband of 42 years to Janice (nee Bethune). He was a proud and loving father of Cody, Brianne (Jake), Kelsi (Sean), Jordanna (David), and Carter (Hudson). He was a cherished Poppy to Lucas, Tommy, Anna & Grace Carriere, Emmett and Owen Mulder, and Leo & Gia Bertolin.
Peter is also survived by his siblings Neal (Carol), Chuck (Sandy), Sandy (Phil), Michael (Allan), Murray (Chris), George and Gordie. He was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Greta, and his brother Ed. Peter will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
An avid outdoorsman, Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking. He had the ability to tinker and fix just about anything, a true MacGyver. He loved playing his favourite card games with his kids, Euchre and Wizard. He was always ready with a quick wit and sarcastic zinger that, while crass, kept everyone laughing.
A celebration of life will be held at the North Bay Granite Club, 2624 Trout Lake Rd, on Saturday April 25th from 1 until 4pm.
Donations in his memory can be made to the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer. Donations to the NOFCC are in honour of Peter’s granddaughter Grace, who just completed treatment for Leukemia. Or, donations can be made to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.
Special thanks are extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Emergency Department and CCU at the NBRHC for their compassionate approach to the family and most of all for their dignity, and kindness shown to Peter.
