Sandra Cook Obituary

Sandra Lillian Cook (nee Depencier)

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of the truly wonderful Mrs. Wonderful due to COVID-19.

Sandra Cook is infamous for her extreme generosity and would give you her last five bucks without a second thought. After a courageous month-long battle, she lost her fight to the virus that has taken too many people before their time. Sandy demonstrated daily that ever so delicate line to walk between being led by the love in your heart while keeping a “take no shit” attitude. No one could ever replace her or come close to possessing the energy she and love she had for her fellow person - friend or stranger. No one could command a kitchen the way she did or put the utmost care into a meal.

Sandy is reunited with the love of her life and her best friend Carl (Mr. Wonderful), her beloved Carling, her parents Stew and Jessie, older brothers Stewie and Jim, brother-in-law Bob, and many other friends. She is survived by and will be fiercely missed by her beloved daughters Abby Lee (Adam) and Sassy and her cat Lola; Her siblings Barb Latour, Shona Dufresne (Ray), Tina Quigley (Keith), Cindy Whalen (Doug), Albert Depencier (Laurie), Les Depencier (Ellen) and Warner Byers (Laurie) and many nieces and nephews; her red-headed step child Amanda, her beloved Mason boys and truly countless friends.

A gathering will be held at Partners Billiards and Bowling on Saturday April 16th from 2pm to 6pm. Due to the nature of Sandy’s passing, all guests must be fully vaccinated to attend and if anyone is sick, they are respectfully asked to celebrate her life from the comfort of their home. Speeches will be live streamed from the Facebook Live Event at 4pm.

Abby and the family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Bonnie, Terry and the volunteers working on her celebration of life; Kate, Courtney, Laurie, Jenna, Diana, and the rest of the staff in the CCU who took incredible care of Sandy; Dr. Richard Procunier who always treated her like a VIP; and Dr. Richard Senior, who helped her through countless challenges and was her biggest advocate until the end.

In lieu of flowers, Abby would like to request that donations be made to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.
