Lafreniere, Shirley (1937–2025)

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the unexpected passing of Shirley Lafreniere on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, with her loving family by her side, at the age of 88.

Shirley was the devoted and loving wife of 69 years to Edward Lafreniere. She was a cherished and proud mother to Randy (Janine), Cheryl (Sergio), and Bryan (Angèle). She was predeceased by her beloved son David (Shawna).

Shirley was a treasured grandmother to 12 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her trips with Dot and Anne. She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful wife, devoted mother, and kind soul with an easy and gentle personality. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and by all who knew and loved her. 

Family receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services, 362 Airport Road, North Bay, on Saturday January 17, 2026 between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm for her celebration of life.
