Theresa Slattery Obituary

THERESA MARIE SLATTERY
(25 MAY 1929 - 28 MAY 2026)

It is with deepest sorrow that the Slattery Family announces the passing of our dear mom, Theresa, at the Algonquin Nursing Home in Mattawa, having just celebrated her 97th birthday.

She was the daughter of the late Lorenzo Demers and Roselda Cyr.  Predeceased by her husband, Joseph (Mar 9, 2022) and sister, Yvette Linklater (Apr 22, 2009), she leaves behind her Children: Diane Hartigan (Don), David (Cathy) and Lawrence (Barb), Grandchildren: Tracy (Joe) and Ryan, Great-Grandchildren:  Jordan and Chloe.

She will be missed by all the friends she made while living at Castle Arms 3, as well as her special friends:  Mimmie Danahy, Carol Marshall, Maureen Fox, Brenda-Lee Pagnini, Liz Kopp, Peter Welch and Bruce Wood.

Mom worked outside the home for most of her working life, but raising us children was always the most important role she undertook.  Contrary to what she would say to everyone, the house was always immaculate.  At meal times, her favourite phrase was “You can’t like my cooking as you are barely eating!” This of course is being said as we are piling on our second plate and getting ready for dessert.  Special holidays were always the time for major celebrations in honour of the occasion.

She was a devoted Roman Catholic, attending the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption until she could not travel any longer. She then watched Mass on television and always followed her favourite Priest, Msgr. Tramontini (He always looks too good and young to be retired!).

Cremation has taken place and at mom’s request, there will be no visitation or service.  A private graveside service will take place at a later date at St Mary's Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Rest in Peace, Mom!  You have earned it.
