It is with the profound sadness. We announce the passing of our beloved Bill at the North Bay Regional Health Centre due to congestive heart failure.

Bill was the best friend and devoted husband for more than 63 years to his wife Mary Gail McLeod (McNaughton). He was the proud father of three sons, Andrew, Christopher (Donna) and Lee. He dearly loved his granddaughters Kristin, Ashley (Mike), Brianne (Peter) and Danielle (Brad) and his great grandchildren Rilan, Bexley and Madison.

Bill will be sadly missed by his brothers George (Bud) and Gary.  He was predeceased by his parents, William Edward McLeod, Senior, and Margaret McLeod (Faubert) and his sister, Joyce Anthony. 

Bill was working in the engineering department at the Pronto uranium mine near Blind River where he met the love of his life Gail who was teaching there.  They moved to North Bay, Bill’s hometown in 1960 where he worked at the Registry and Land Title office.  He became a property assessor where he worked from 1970 until his retirement in 1998.

Bill with a gentle, humble man, who was always available to lend a helping hand to family and friends alike. He was the oldest of a trio of brothers, who were active in sports for decades, Bill excelled at football and hockey in high school and later, played baseball for many years and took up golf.

His brothers bud and Gary call him there hero as he got them started in sports and always encourage them. Bill, loved to travel and was an avid reader. He was likely one of the best customers at Allison the Bookman.  As per his wishes cremation has taken place.  The family is receiving friends at Hillside Funeral Services on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 11 am until 1 pm. A celebration of his life will follow.

The family would like to think Dr. Laronde for her care over the past few years.
